FREMAR LLC is a joint venture between Central Farmers Cooperative, a South Dakota Cooperative, and Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), each having equal  ownership of 50%.  The joint venture was formed to take advantage of the strengths of a locally owned and controlled cooperative with the benefits of an international agricultural leader in the industry.

FREMAR LLC is controlled by a four member Board of Directors. The board is comprised of two representatives from ADM-Benson-Quinn Co. and two representatives from Central Farmers Coop Board of Directors. The Central representatives include the President of the FREMAR Board and one other director voted on annually by Central Farmers Coop Board of Directors.

The need for such an arrangement arose in order for Central to remain a competitive force in the grain and agronomy industry. Having accessibility to ADM domestic processing plants, export facilities, transportation department and marketing department, to list a few, were among the reasons the joint venture was formed. Central brings to this joint venture local management, expert employees and most of all a strong base of customers. Central Farmers Cooperative Feed and Petroleum departments are the sole ownership of Central Farmers Cooperative.
